THE ART OF BAUERNMALEREI

Over all those years I have my web-site up and showing my

artwork about BAUERNMALEREI, like,...  hand painted furniture, keepsakes and wall paintings in Bauernmalerei style,

I do get many e-mails from all over the world ( USA, Germany,

South Africa, Kenya, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, France,...

just to name a few) It is a pleasure for me to see, how popular painting in Bauernmalerei style has become.

Many times I can see by my fellow artists, how they have developed there own style of Bauernmalerei.

On my BLOG I would love to share with you painting

experiences, new projects and keep you informed about my Decorative Painting / Bauernmalerei workshops as well it will feature various artists.

I hope you enjoy your visit...

It is almost a year now, when I started with my latest Bauernmalerei Book and I am very pleased how it turned out. Not only that the publisher did such an excellent job

( Englisch Verlag - Wiesbaden, Germany ) on the layout, pictures and print quality,

I also wanted to bridge a gab between the old traditional folk art paintings and a more free, uncomplicated Bauernmalerei painting style which fits well in our time period.

This is a wonderful reference book, with very detailed step by step painting instruction

using traditional Bauernmalerei motifs and also showing some new ideas and

color combinations.

The book will guide your through various techniques,... wood graining, Kleister-painting, veneer-painting and antiquing. Also a number of projects with detailed, easy

understandable painting instructions, helpful tips and patterns.

I was always looking for a way to make it possible for my web-site visitors and fellow painters to join my Decorative Painting and Bauernmalerei Workshop. So I thought if you are not able to come to me - maybe I am able to come to you :-) .... and I think Online Classes are the ticket.

Honestly I tell you it is a lot a work preparing an online workshop - but I love working on the computer, it also teaches you a few new things how it needs to be done. Guess that's where the left side of the brain is now working - hmm good balance for my painting.

For our first online class we start with a " Furniture-Workshop"

In the future we also will offer Bauernmalerei and Decorative Painting classes, inclusive video support.

For more information follow link to see what's included

and what you need.

Most of you probaply know much about Bauermalerei, but I thought it might be still interesting to know a little about it's history.

We have 3 sorts of Bauernmalerei producers.

1.) The main producers of Bauernmalerei Furniture were carpenters, turners and cabinetmakers; they not only made the furniture, but also painted it. Imitation wood graining, stenciling, to the high developed art of painting folk art ornaments, flowers, figures, country and religious scenes. Wood graining & marbleizing were predominant parts of decorated furniture. It became popular not only for humble farmhouses, but also for distinctive town homes.

2.) During the long cold winter hour farmers had enough time to do work at home, so the used those hours to be creative, woodcarving or making quilts, painting was very popular.

Of course those furniture were used as presents, a newborn child, a wedding coming up and so on.

3.) At last and not least, was and is still today the folk artist, he got commissioned to paint personalized furniture.

PS. ... and I am glad to see Bauernmalerei is still popular and we are taking time to pick up the brush and continue painting this wonderful art form.

This month I was sending out my January newsletter, besides some general information about my latest cd-books, classes etc. I have also posted a link to our

free Bauernmalerei Pattern.

The original design comes from an old cabinet - about 1820, it shows a decorative border ( baroque rocaillen) and a brench with roses and small flowers.

I did add a short painting instruction, color picture and a drawing which you can resize to your needs. I hope you enjoy that pattern.
