I like to introduce you to a talented artist from South Africa, Lesley Cornwell. She is a self-taught artist and loves Bauernmalerei. What I like on her painting is that you can see and feel how cheerful and energetic her painting is, it flows very wonderfully. Also I think it is a very good example that Bauernmalerei style has it’s flair from the simplicity, a stylized representation of natures flowers.

In this month (June) newsletter I also have prepared a free pattern for you. It is a very traditional folk art motif which comes in many variations. It's not only used for painting, ... in wood carvings, quilts etc. ... plays the Tree of Life an important part of the many folk art designs and he also can be found in many cultures throughout the globe.

It is almost a year now, when I started with my latest Bauernmalerei Book and I am very pleased how it turned out. Not only that the publisher did such an excellent job ( Englisch Verlag - Wiesbaden, Germany ) on the layout, pictures and print quality, I also wanted to bridge a gab between the old traditional folk art paintings and a more free, uncomplicated Bauernmalerei painting style which fits well in our time period.

This is a wonderful reference book, with very detailed step by step painting instruction using traditional Bauernmalerei motifs and also showing some new ideas and color combinations.
